Crispy Okra Recipe

“Okra has sweet and cooling properties for pitta, along with numerous medicinal benefits for all three doshas. It lubricates joints, relieves inflammation, protects the liver and kidneys by binding with toxins in the blood, and supports digestion as a prebiotic”

Our bodies don’t exist in exception to the natural world. Our bodies are interconnected and dependent on nature for our health and wellbeing. However, in the modern times, we live in such a detached state from nature that we’ve forgotten the natural way to nourish ourselves. Thanks to the invention of freezing techniques, preservatives and agriculture advancement (just to name a few). We can now easily access different foods outside of their growing seasons. But… food is at its freshest, tastes the best, is most affordable and has the most nutritional value when its in their season. So I thought why not try to make some baby steps in eating seasonally?
Okra is in season from July and September. Try this yummy recipe and your stomach and palates will love you for it!! 🤍
20-30 whole okra
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground tumeric
1/4 tsp salt
Optional: 1/2 tsp mango (amchoor) or curry powder
2 tbsp sunflower oil or ghee
Lime juice, for serving
Original recipe was to cook in a skillet but I modified it with cooking it in the oven using the grill mode. It turned out fantastic too!
